From crab to cockles; how to cook tastiest new products

by tjames March 11, 2021

Our newest fish and seafood ranges are now available on the Seafood by Sykes website, and wow they’re a delectable and diverse range of products. Here, we focus on the top five new items we’ve added to our online shop, as well as some interesting ideas that’ll help you recreate a restaurant quality meal from your own kitchen.

If you’ve tried any of them don’t forget to share your creations on social by tagging us in @seafoodbysykes; we love to be inspired by our customers’ mouthwatering menus. Bon appetit!

1 Crab claws… Our crab claws, packed with delicate flesh, make a particularly impressive starter or addition to a platter. Worried about what to do with them? They’re simple to cook, just serve hot with with a lemon and butter dipping sauce, or cold with a tangy marie rose sauce for a simple dish that is quick and easy to throw together.

2 Octopus… We can’t go to the Med right now, so let’s bring all the flavours to you! Our octopus tentacles are fully cooked and prepared, leaving you with tender, succulent meat, and none of the mess or worry of what to do with them. Delicious grilled, fried or sliced into salads, this is a versatile ingredient that will take on the flavours that you cook it with.

3 Cockles… Found in estuaries along the British coastline, our cockle meat is sweet and delicate, and a lot more versatile than you might think. Try them in a risotto with fresh asparagus. Or, as they’re low in fat and high in protein, serve them up as a healthy snack.

4 Lobster… Bringing all of the flavour and of delicious Canadian lobsters – but without the fuss. Our lobster meat is extracted from the claws –  arguably the most flavoursome part of the lobster. Simply boil the meat, toss in parsley and lemon and throw in a brioche bun for the ultimate tasty lobster roll.

5 Swordfish… Swordfish is a popular fish, rich in omega-3 fatty acids, selenium and vitamin D. These steaks are firm, succulent and meaty, with a texture comparable to tuna. They are best served pan-fried, grilled or barbecued, and paired with strong, punchy flavours like chilli, garlic and ginger.

If you order these or any of our restaurant-quality produce, don’t forget to share your recipes. Just tag us on social @seafoodbysykes; we give out a monthly prize to the creator of the tastiest dish too!
