Mother’s Day is different this year; while we’d normally be making plans, wrapping gifts and booking restaurants to celebrate, this year we’re all trying to find creative ways of making it special at home.
But what if you’re struggling for ideas…? Fear not, fish fans! Our chef Howard has put together a range of delicious dishes that can be whipped up to put a smile on the face of the maternal figure in your household from the moment they wake up – to the moment they go to sleep.
So, here’s our indulgent itinerary for a magnificent Mother’s Day; and remember all of the recipes below can be created using our premium produce – order yours here…
Morning; you’re obviously going to let mum, grandma, or whomever is your household’s maternal figure have a lie in this Sunday. While she sleeps in, you can get in the kitchen to prepare a brilliant brunch. Try our easy-to-make smoked salmon and scrambled eggs, or eggs royale; for added brownie points, pop it onto a beautiful serving tray like this by Not on the High Street.
Noon: Walk off brunch with some exploration in the fresh air, before returning home for a light lunch. Keep it short and sweet to ensure there’s room for the main event later in the day with small dishes such as these sauteed scallops or salt and pepper squid.
Dinner: Ah, now this is the meal she’ll have been waiting for – a sumptuous feast that brings all the flavours of a restaurant into your dining room. This meal is about celebrating the maternal icon’s who have done so much this year. What better way than with a grand three-course affair, starting perhaps with this Tom Yum soup or even our smoked haddock gratin. Main courses could vary from lobster – like this classic Thermidor – or lovely langoustines. A light dessert of your choosing will complete the perfect day!
