#FitWithFish

While January is usually the month of committing to new things – kicking bad habits, or starting a new fitness regime – this year’s a little different. So, while many of us spend more time at home, we’ve created a series of tasty new recipes to help you eat restaurant-quality meals from the comfort of your own kitchen. In the first of our #FitWithFish series, we’re focusing on tasty tuna.

This protein-packed fish isn’t just tasty, it also boasts numerous health benefits. Tuna is good for your heart as it’s packed with omega-3 fatty acids which help balance blood vessels thereby reducing cholesterol in the arteries. It’s also rich in potassium, which is known to lower blood pressure. When paired together, omega-3 and potassium have an anti-inflammatory effect to the cardiovascular system, reducing the risk of stroke and heart attacks.

So, to help you eat well and still enjoy marvellous meals, our chef Howard has put together his top, tasty tuna-based recipes.

Seared Tuna with Sticky Sesame Chilli and Soy dressing

“One of my favourite dishes is seared tuna with sticky sesame chilli and soy dressing,” Howard says. “It looks (and tastes!) amazing and it’s so quick and easy to make. All the ingredients are supermarket staples – such as chilli, garlic and onions – so it’s a great go-to dish when you want something healthy but are pushed for time. You can create this dish from start to finish in 25 minutes and I serve it with seasoned noodles for that authentic finish.”

Grilled Tuna with Citrus Dressing, Rocket and Red Onion salad“Another firm favourite is grilled tuna with citrus dressing and rocket and red onion salad. This is one of my lunchtime winners – tasty, looks amazing, and takes 5 minutes to cook! It’s also a really light dish so you won’t feel lethargic as you head into the afternoon. The citrus dressing can be made in advance and stored in a fridge for up to 3 days – and the rocket and red onion salad is a super healthy bed for your tuna. This is a lunchtime winner when I want to impress friends but not spend forever slaving over the hob!”

“Finally, I can highly recommend my grilled tuna with avocado and tomato salad recipe. This trio is responsible for a whole host of health benefits – avocado helps aid digestion and tomato is a much-regarded superfood packed with January busting antioxidants. You’ll be prepped, cooked, and served within 10 minutes so this is the perfect quick, easy and healthy family dinner.” Simply click here and get cooking.
